Wendy Shapss is a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in New York. She is Co-Leader of the Global Insurance Services practice. She is also the leader of the FTI Women’s Initiative New York chapter of over 250 women.

Ms. Shapss has extensive experience in complex insurance and reinsurance matters, working for domestic and international insurers in arbitration, mediation and litigation. She has provided expert testimony in purchase price dispute arbitrations; and has been directly involved in numerous litigation matters related to internal controls surrounding revenue recognition; allocation of expenses; reimbursement policies; recovery of rebates and credits; and reward programs. Ms. Shapss has also been retained by the Department of Justice to assist in certain complex litigation matters.

In addition, Ms. Shapss has expertise in matters involving fraudulent financial reporting; SEC investigations; asset diversion; damage quantification; acquisitions and divestitures; antitrust; price fixing; claims management; forensic investigations; accounting irregularities; liquidation; product liability; solvency; and valuations.

Ms. Shapss has worked with clients and their risk management teams in various capacities, including M&A due diligence; insurance coverage analysis, broker selection and coverage procurement; claims assessment and resolution; and implementation and design of business continuity programs. Ms. Shapss has been involved in implementations of financial shared services and performance improvement activities for international insurers.

Ms. Shapss’ assignments have given her a broad range of industry experience. These industries include insurance, financial services; automotive; waste management; publishing; manufacturing; apparel and textiles; not-for-profit; hospitality; retail; and matters involving a broad range of environmental and asbestos issues.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Ms. Shapss was a CPA with PriceWaterhouse Audit and Business Advisory Services Group. Ms. Shapss is a Certified Public Accountant, a certified Fraud Examiner, certified in Financial Forensics and a Chartered Global Management Accountant. She holds a B.S. in Accounting and Marketing and an M.B.A. from Lehigh University.
