Manfred Ohrenstein is the Senior Partner of the law firm of Ohrenstein & Brown. The firm represents a wide range of New York and overseas clients and handles Litigation, Corporate, Commercial, Securities, Real Estate, Government Affairs and Regulatory matters with an emphasis in the Insurance Industry. Mr. Ohrenstein serves as a strategic consultant and government affairs representative for large and medium sized domestic and international companies in Washington, D.C., New York State and New York City in matters relating to Insurance, Banking, Securities, Real Estate, Mass Transportation (Passenger Rail and High Speed Rail), Health, Telecom, and Government Contracting, etc. He also advises on major Economic Development Projects in New York City and Upstate New York (Penn Yards, Rail, Lower Manhattan Development, New York Convention Center, Erie Canalway, Upstate New York Economic Development). He has lectured in New York, Washington, and China.
Mr. Ohrenstein is a prominent political and civic leader in the City of New York. He was a member of the New York State Senate from 1961 to 1995 and the Democratic Leader of the Senate from 1975 to 1995. After leaving the Senate, he was appointed by Mayor Guiliani as a member of the New York City Mayoral Task Force on the City University of New York and the Task Force on the New York City Board of Elections. He is Vice Chairman of the Museum of Jewish Heritage-A Memorial to the Holocaust, and a member of the New York Building Congress and the Partnership for New York City. He served as a Captain in the United States Army Judge Advocate Corps during the Korean conflict.
Mr. Ohrenstein is a graduate of Columbia Law School and Brooklyn College and is the recipient of the Brooklyn College Medal of Honor.
He is married to Dr. Marilyn Ohrenstein and has two children and four grandchildren.
